No news is good news and there have been no recent reports from either LCRA or the City of Austin of cyanotoxins in either the Highland Lakes or closer to home at Arkansas Bend Park. Samples taken near the boat ramp in Travis Landing on December 30th continued to show an improvement in overall water quality. Nevertheless, LCRA continues to urge people and pets to avoid contact with algae because there is always a chance that algae can start producing toxins in cold weather, as they did in February of last year.
